Breakfast Smoothie On the Go

Here is mine and my husband’s favorite smoothie for our mornings before work, or any time of day.  The best thing about this smoothie is that the base of it comes from my husband’s naturopath doctor.  I’ve added some of my favorite superfoods to make it that much better.  Plus the acai or the gogi powder make it colorful and fun, perfect for Instagram pics.

Recipe:

½ frozen banana

1 Cup frozen blueberries (I don’t measure I just throw a bunch in)

2 TBSP flax seed – High in fiber, antioxidants and Omega 3’s

2TBSP Chia seeds – High in fiber, anti-oxidants, protein, calcium and Omega 3’s

1TBSP Hemp Hearts – Omega 6, Vitamin E, and protein

2 Scoops protein powder (We use Gold Standard or 1Up nutrition) but I want to try Alani Nu, has anyone tried it?

Or I’ll do 1 scoop protein powder and 1 scoop Collagen – Beneficial for skin, muscles, and gut health

2 ½ cups almond milk or milk substitute

Other add-ins depending on the day:

Gogi powder – Protein and packed with vitamins and minerals

Acai powder – Considered a super fruit because of all the vitamins and minerals, as well as high fiber

Bee pollen – An anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant rich addition.  I don’t care for the texture, so I usually do about a teaspoon

All the goods

Combine all in the blender we use the Nutri Ninja IQ; it has the perfect smoothie setting, no lumps; it gets all the superfoods blended.

Mix it up

This recipe makes more than enough for me and my husband we usually put them in our shaker bottles and take to work.
