If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I’ve had to take a couple of weeks off due to injury. This has given me time to figure out what I need when doing my home workouts. Working out at home is the only way I work out, living on an island, there are no good gyms. I’ve slowly been acquiring what I believe are essentials to getting a good sweat on at home.
Here’s my list of must-haves for good home workouts. And even better I was able to get a majority of these on Amazon!
First a good set of weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, ankle weights, or weighted bars. You don’t need all of these just get weights that work with your budget or moves you like to do.
A good step up because it is so versatile to any workout. The one I have has three different heights so you can advance your moves. I like doing step-ups, push-ups, dips, side squats, and some aerobic moves. Kind of reminds me of high school aerobics PE class.
A good set of resistance bands with handles, ankle straps, and a door anchor. A lot of people don’t realize how hard a band workout can be. Sometimes I’ll do an all band workout, or I’ll incorporate it in, in place of some moves because I don’t have all the equipment of a gym. Back and leg moves are my favorite to use for these bands.
Booty bands are all the rage right now and for a good reason. These little things are small but mighty; they will activate your glutes in a new and different way than you are used too. They will amplify all of your leg moves.
Lastly, some sliders are an often-overlooked tool in a workout. I think that these are great for amplifying your ab work out and mountain climbers.
Some extras that I love to make getting cardio a little easier is a treadmill and spin bike. I’ve had both of these for several years, and my husband and I love them. I got my treadmill from the Precor store because being a collegiate track runner; I had to run on it before I bought it. My spin bike I was able to pick up on Amazon.
